Anu Pooni; Writer
Writing paragraphs about myself isn’t quite my strongest attribute. Nevertheless, allow me to briefly introduce myself. My name is Anu Pooni, and I’m a writer for the FHWordmmith. As a writer, I am a firm believer of respecting peoples opinions and letting them be heard. A substantial part of me is more of a fiction writer, but journalism has allowed me to come out of my comfort zone and write about things that are more real. I would say that I’m a bit of an academic because my hobbies and interests usually revolve around school-related activities such as reading and writing and my favorite course work is rarely ever electives. I really like English and the Sciences because those courses are what interest me the most and have influenced my choice in my future career. I’m introverted, which is an attribute that I’ve learned to love. I find my energy through being alone, and believe me when I say it’s not as mundane as it may sound. I love learning new things everyday, in any kind of subject. I play guitar, piano and violin because it’s a hobby that I picked up when I was younger and never grew out of, despite having no plans for music in the future. My guilty pleasures are sci-fi entertainment (anything from movies, TV shows and video games), as well as fantasy. As a writer for The Wordmith, I hope to introduce topics that spark discussion and interest.
Regards.

Morgan Fitz-Gerald, Writer
My name is Morgan, as you can see from the title. I’m an average teenager. I’m a trouble maker, outgoing, care free and daring. I’m in grade 12 and just trying to figure out what I want to do next year. My life consists of school, work and spending time with my family and friends. Sounds typical, but like I said I’m the average teen. My passion is most definitely travelling. When I am at home all I can think about is being out in the world, and when I’m out there I’m planning for the next time I’ll be able to go back. It’s a constant struggle. Other than spending my days cooped up in my room studying or working hard on the job, I try to spend as much time as possible with my close friends. Although we never end up doing anything out of the norm, (watching movies and going out for food), we’re always having lots of fun. That’s a bit about me, one of the writers of this Frank Hurt The Wordsmith.

Laura Foreman, Writer
Bonjour! First off, I want to say thank you for taking the time to read some of my articles. So… This is where I talk about myself? Well, of course I like writing. On one condition, I’m allowed to give my opinion. I’m very open-minded and I love voicing my thoughts. In the future, I plan on being a massage therapist. Won’t involve so much writing, but as of now I enjoying putting pen to paper (not pencil, I don’t like pencils). If you have any questions, I would love to answer… after I’m done watching Harry Potter. <3

Ramneet Kang, Writer
Greetings folks, I’m Ramneet Kang. I’m currently in the 12th grade and reside in Greater Vancouver. I have always had a hobby for writing and expressing my own views and opinions. I am deeply passionate about making a positive difference in the world be it through Global Issues, Student Council, Leadership or Surrey Youth environmental groups. I also want to shed light upon the issues that are not as well known in the media. In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, taking vocal lessons, dancing, reading, painting, and traveling. Almost anything vintage fascinates me. I also try to keep a healthy lifestyle by running frequently and going on hikes in natural surroundings.. because Mother Nature’s awesome. I hope you enjoy my articles and can provide feedback

Nina Pham-Do, Writer
Hi I’m Nina. I’m 17 years old and have attended Frank Hurt since the start of grade 8. I’m interested in feminism, equality, sexuality and other issues plaguing our world. Besides that I’m actually a fairly abstract person as I’ve seen things one wouldn’t believe and though my art skills are at an amateur’s level, I’d argue that it comes with the enigmatic package. I like making art by the way, when I find just the right inspiration such as a simple paint stain on a blank piece of paper, I just look at it and my mind thinks “it could work” Then I take it, add a splash of the same stain over and over again, then I do some more things I can’t remember. However the end result amazes even me because I just made art, I took one simple stain and turned it into something to really look at. Sorry I tend to go on tangents :’) I’ll get back on track by stating that as a journalist I would be most interested in writing about the issues women go through on a daily basis since it’s a topic dear to my heart and I’m a girl too. I’d like to look into sexuality as well because it’s a vast area that has been largely ignored. Some last facts about me are: I’m an introvert so I don’t mind having a small circle of friends. I don’t talk much not because I’m shy(okay maybe a little bit) it’s mostly due to me not having a lot to say to begin with, aaaaaaaaand my best friend is the greatest:3

Sarah Vail, Writer
Greetings, I’m Sarah Vail. I go to Frank Hurt Secondary if you haven’t noticed already. I am 16 going on 17, I’m in grade 11. I’m pretty much the same as any other average teenage girl. Go to school –> go home –> surf the web –>sleep and repeat. But on weekends I’m usually out in Langley riding my horse Juliet at Campbell Valley or something. I love music. Preferably classic rock, rock and almost anything in between. I have problems with handing things in so if you notice I don’t have much on this site, that’s why. But I will try my best!

Well, let me see, My name is Geneva. I am from Surrey, and graduating Frank Hurt Secondary. Some of my hobbies include, photography, reading, and dancing. I love spending time with my friends and family, but also sometimes like to be alone. I love bowling, and the movies. I am a very open person. My favourite colour is blue, I don’t really have a favourite movie. I just really like some more than others. I don’t really have a favourite subject. I love quotes and music. To find the the quote or the song you are feeling, is just a great feeling.
“ Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want, everything you want. Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true. You never know where the next miracle is gonna come from, the next smile, the next wish come true. But if you believe that it’s right around the corner, and you open your heart and mind to the possibility of it, to the certainty of it. You just might get the thing you’re wishing for. The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it. So make your wish. Do you have it? Good. Now believe in it. With all your heart.” Unknown.

Cassie Zuzek, Writer
My name is Cassie Zuzek and I’m in grade eleven. Some of my favourite things are Star Trek, Nerdfighteria, Harry Potter, and above all else The Beatles. I’m very passionate about a lot of things people find boring like politics or news based television, which probably stems from a daily dose of cereal and CNN in the morning. I’ve been told I don’t have great social skills, but I’m a great textual communicator so feel free to comment anytime you want!

Natalie Cheslock, Writer
About myself… well, I love to write about anything and everything. You could call me old fashioned, but I carry a pen and a journal around with me everywhere I go. I don’t know if I could live without it. After high school, I’m hoping to attend the University of Fraser Valley for a degree in child and youth care, as I’ve always been intrigued in psychology and I love working with kids. That said, I will probably publish a number of articles regarding current psychological events, mixed in with some art and culture and something very close to my heart, depression. Many people in my family suffer from it, as well as myself. I’m open about it, because I’ve seen the effects first hand and want to do everything in my power to help other teenagers that might be struggling. I’m always open to feedback from my readers, willing to answer any questions you might have for me, and feel free to approach me in the halls whenever you feel like it. I don’t bite

Marissa Schindelka, Writer
Hey, I’m Marissa. I am seventeen years old and attend Frank Hurt. Being able to address school issues and issues throughout the world is one of my many passions along with creative writing, playing guitar and doing hair. Since I was young I have always loved to write. I would always be carrying around a journal with me because instead of speaking aloud, it was my way of expressing my thoughts. Now, I do still carry around my “notebook” on my phone and write things down, but that’s how times have changed. With the help of this newspaper and my fellow peers I hope to be able to help people by writing about things that are interesting to my age group.
ps. give me your feedback.

Benjamin Dooley, Writer
For those of you that don’t know me, let me introduce myself. My name is Benjamin Dooley (most call me Ben). The most recognizable thing about me is that I am a hockey addict. I don’t just like the NHL but I pride myself on following levels of hockey. My biggest pet peeve was when the NHL lockout ended and their slogan became “hockey is back”, when in reality, hockey never left. Seems a bit arrogant to me. Expect lots of hockey talk from me. Don’t be afraid to comment on my articles, I won’t bite. In fact, I love having conversations with fellow hockey nuts.
